It is a common misconception that email invoices and e-invoices are the same. Email invoicing is a manual process where an invoice is sent/received in a traditional document format PDF, TIFF, or JPG… invoice data from these documents is then entered or extrapolated into an organisation's finance system, for further processing. Invoices arriving via email, are less secure, and less accurate

On the other hand, e-invoicing is an automatic process where the invoice is created in the supplier’s finance system and transmitted electronically through the network to the buyer’s finance system. e-Invoicing is faster, more secure and more accurate.
